Privacy
Toovn is built around private circles and explicit access. The service is designed to keep coordination visible to social circles and not the wider public. We're advocates of using data solely for the purpose of running the product as advertised, so we run Toovn with that principle in mind: event data and social circle information is only used to notify people in those social circles about those events.
At a glance
- We store account details, social circles, events, and response data needed to run the product.
- We do not provide public discovery for social circles or events. Only friends/aquaintances in a social circle can see that circle and events shared with it.
- We do not use or share user data for any other purpose than running the product.
- We store event information and social circles on EU servers.
- We remove all personal data from deleted accounts and events after a user deletes their account.
What we collect
- Your email address as entered during sign-up, or whatever email address you use to sign in with a third-party provider.
- The social circles (hoops) you create.
- The events you create.
- Response data to events.
- General information on how the app is used (analytics).
How we use it
- Your email address is used for account access, authentication, event communications you've opted in to, and essential notifications (e.g. password reset or significant changes to the service).
- Your social circles, events, and response data are used to run the product and provide the service as advertised.
- When a user deletes their account, we remove all personal data associated with that account.
- All event and social circle data is stored on EU servers.
- None of the analytics data we collect is personally identifiable and it's used solely to understand how the app is used and to improve it. None of it is sold or used for advertising or profiling purposes.
Who we share it with
- Your email address is shared with Clerk, who provide user management and authentication services. We do not share any of your other personal data with them. Please feel free to research their privacy practices if you have concerns about this.
- Analytics data is processed by Umami. Umami, unlike some analytics providers, do not collect personally identifiable information. They (and we) do not know who did what, just what happened, to better understand what features are used and how the app is used in general. Please feel free to research their privacy practices if you have concerns about this.
What we don't do
- We do not share your data with third parties for any purpose other than running the product (see who we share it with).
- We do not sell or rent the data you provide to us to any advertisers, marketers or training data sets.
What stays private
Hoops, user data, and events are not public. Events and users in a hoop are only visible to other members of that hoop.
